Sony Optiarc BC-5600S-01 2X Blu-Ray SATA Slim Combo Drive - Bulk (Black) Decide Now

I use this with a macbook pro (2.5GHz early 2008 model). For the moment, I have placed it in a slim SATA enclosure and use it an an external Bluray ROM. It is very thin and light;very good to carry around in your laptop bag.

The drive is recognized instantly, but unfortunately there is no software (yet) to play BR-movies on the mac. I have installed windows xp on my laptop and use the windows partition to play the BR-movies.

The powerdvd-ultimate (or whatever the hell it's called) works very well and I have no problems at all. I connect the laptop to an external monitor (24 inch lcd in my case) to get full 1080p. You could connect to your 60inch HDTV in the same fashion! I connect the laptop to m speaker system via a toslink cable to get 5.1 surround.

I dont know why it's so expensive on Amazon.com, I got mine for ~150 bucks a few months' ago.
